Type 2 diabetes is no longer a disease of just adults, and it has become imperative that pediatric providers become well-versed in the management of pediatric type 2 diabetes and related co-morbidities.
Dear SIG members,
We would like to take on a group project to better understand youth onset T2D around the globe. Here are some potential ideas. Please vote to help us decide which one of these topics to choose. The goal would be to work on the project as a group and hopefully publish our work as a manuscript.
1. Landscape of youth-onset type 2 diabetes treatment across globe: Similarities and Differences in high and low resource settings/ countries. (What providers have access to, BG checks, 1st and 2nd line agents, insulin use, who is following these children (GP/adult/peds endo), Devices access, health care system infrastructure, metformin failure rates)
2. How are different countries managing prediabetes?
3. Prevalence of ketosis-prone T2D (esp DKA)
4. Secondary metformin failure rates - time duration to failure
5. Prevalence of T2D across different geographic areas
