Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship

ISPAD's Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship (USD 7,500)

The Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship, in partnership with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), is for ISPAD members seeking to expand their clinical experience in diabetes management.

About Allan Drash

The Allan Drash Clinical Fellowship, in partnership with Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF), is available for ISPAD members seeking to expand their clinical experience in diabetes management.

Both physicians and non-physicians can apply for the USD 7,500 fellowship, which requires spending approximately four to six weeks at an ISPAD Drash Host Center. The fellowship may include programmatic issues, clinical care, setting up a program, clinical study, or research activities, depending on the host center.

During the application process, applicants will need to list and rank three choices from the available host centers and provide reasons for their selections in their application letter. The ISPAD Fellowship Committee will allocate applicants to the host centers based on their choices.

Funded applicants are expected to submit two reports:

  • One within 2 months of completing the fellowship
  • And another 12 months after the fellowship, describing the outcomes and benefits resulting from their participation in the Allan Drash Fellowship at their own center.

Preference in the review process will be given to applicants from developing and middle-income countires. They will most benefit from an opportunity to learn at an ISPAD Drash Host Center and then apply their experience to improve diabetes care in their country of origin. The fellowship period is from October to June, the next year. Please adhere to this timeframe as much as possible. Applicants are required to have a valid ISPAD membership at the time of their application.
