Its strength lies in its members' expertise in childhood and adolescent diabetes. As the only global society focused on all types of diabetes in young people, ISPAD is crucial as this disease increasingly affects children and adolescents worldwide.
Our Mission
Our mission is to advance clinical and scientific knowledge, promote education, and advocate for better care and treatment for young people affected by diabetes.
Our Aims
- Promote Research and Science: We support and encourage both clinical and basic scientific research to enhance understanding and treatment of diabetes in young people.
- Education and Training: ISPAD provides post graduate courses, comprehensive education and training programs for physicians and healthcare professionals, including annual conferences, science schools, and workshops.
- Clinical Practice Guidelines: We regularly publish and update Clinical Practice Consensus Guidelines to ensure the highest standards of care for children and adolescents with diabetes, with translations available as well.
- Advocacy: ISPAD advocates for policies and practices that improve diabetes care and raise public awareness about the challenges faced by young people with diabetes, both globally and in less developed countries.
- Global Collaboration: We facilitate international collaboration among physicians, healthcare professionals, researchers, and organizations to share knowledge and best practices.
- Hormone Research in Paediatrics: Members enjoy full access to all articles in the official journal of the society and have the option to publish up to two manuscripts per year free of any article processing charges.
