Type 1 Diabetes in School

The ISPAD Position Statement on Type 1 Diabetes in Schools is based upon the ISPAD Guidelines 2018 for Management of Type 1 Diabetes in School (1). It draws upon the published position statements on diabetes in schools in many countries (2 – 6).

The principles of this ISPAD Position Statement on Type 1 Diabetes in Schools should be applicable globally. ISPAD strongly supports compliance with legal protections for children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes to attend school, be safe at school, and receive optimal medical management at school and in all school-associated activities.
